Default Harrington on Hold Em

My dad just lent me this book. I have read a lot of poker material, but of course had to read what Dan had to say afetr the 2003-2004 world series that he had. That has to be the best accomplishment in WSOP history, to recah two final tables in back to back years with as many entrants as there were. Even more so than his win in 2005.

His book gives a lot of actual hands and situations from real experiences and hands he has seen. The funny thing is, he will calculate the pot odds for a hand and tell you the correct move to make and why depoendng on the player, yet he tells what actually happened and the worse hand wins, or the right decision goes bad. Kind of funny, none the less a good book so far. It's a 2 part series and this is just the first so it will be interesting to see what else he has to say.

P.S. I think this puts me over 150!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

congrats on being over the 150 point plateau, and also i think that dan harrington's tournament play has been absolutely amazing and may be the greatest feat so far, however i have heard a lot of rumors this year about greg raymer performing very well again, i dont want to find out just how good and ruin the surprise of watching it on ESPN, but anyway, good to hear from someone who is reading that book as it is written by someone that i have the utmost respect for.

In 2005 Raymer got 25th

2004 thousands of entrants
2005 thousands more

I'd have to disagree. Harrington made it the final tables in both the 2003 and 2004 WSOP main events. He also won it in '95 I think, and has been at 3 other final tables in WSOP events since then (6 total I believe).

If anyone knows tournament play, it's Action Dan Harrington. I've read both Volumes I and II of his books, and will keep re-reading them until I've won a bracelet...or until I lose my bankroll and retire penniless.

K.

I think thats the point though. It teaches you the mathematically correct way to go about it, considering chip stacks, postion, odds, and style of play. And reminds you that it doesnt work all the time.

I won a $50 buck amazon gift card the other day playing in a poker tourney so I figured I should put some of it towards poker so I just ordered "Harrington on Hold 'em Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments:
Strategic Play (Vol. 1)" So you guys better watch out in a few weeks I'm going to be really good
