Default All in???

After a break from poker im back and i am greeted with another final table. Were down to 3 handed and I am the middle stack.

Chip Leader - 60,000
Me - 35,000
Short Stack - 30,000
Blinds at 4,000 and 8,000

I have Ace, Jak suited on the button and raise 3 times the big blind. The big stack folds and the small stack moves in. I call and he shows queen 5 off suit.

Flop comes A J 8
Turn 5
River 5

I am knocked out to a bad beat. BUT should I have moved all in pre-flop? I think so. But what do you think.

I was really trying to pick up the blinds but I got a call. Would an all in which was another 5,00 more, have scared off the Q 5 that led to my downfall?

He was BB and had 8K in the pot with 22K left. I would defintely have gone all-in to steal the blinds and probably win 2oo3 cases. You got very unlucky on the Turn and River.

no the raise wasn't a bad idea. you just got a bad beat that's always happening.

It was a good play , 3BB vs all in wouldn't make a big difference , it was just bad luck .

there you should have just pushed all in. you almost seem weak there with the blinds so high compared with your stack. going only 3x the big blind there probably made this guy think he is barely an underdog if at all, probably putting you on maybe some suited connecters and his q high is good. plus he is pretty much pot committed here and doesnt want to get blinded out.
