Default Flopped a Boat

I was playing A3o off the BB and the flop came out AA3 with only one other player in MP. This is one of those rare occasions for slow play. So we both check to see a Q on the Turn and both check again for a 4 on the River. This time I bet to see if he has caught anything. He re-raises and I re-raise back and he calls. He shows 2-5 for a straight and I win with the Boat. Picked up a couple of bucks.

yea good job with that play. Its hard to be patient but you have to wait for the other player to catch when you have a hand like that. Then you can sucker him for as many chips as u want.

Nice play, iceberg. Sometimes I get impatient and I raise after the turn on my slowplays, but you played it perfectly. Well done, hopefully you win a lot next time you flop the nuts like that.

A little off topic - why do they call a fullhouse a boat?

I've always known it as a Fullhouse until Online Poker.
But a Full House is also known as a Full Boat.
I do not know how it originated.

Default Did you stop to think?

So when this raising war was going on did you ever stop to think that your fish on the line might have had a bigger hand?

Sounds like you got in for free in the BB meaning that the other guy limped. Did it ever occur to you that he could have had A4? Even better did it ever even ring in there that he had AQ?

I am not bashing you for winning a hand here at all but at what point do you stop to think about the hand?

NH congrats!
