If you find yourself in a crazy limit game, where there are usually five players or more to a hand, there are three words of advice I can give you:

1.) Read Ed Miller's Small Stakes Hold'em. Learn it. It will guide you well.
2.) Research Morton's Theorem. It will explain to you why you are losing when you wait on the big hands in these crazy games.
3.) Unless you've got about $3000 in your bankroll, weathering the storms in a 4-8 game like that can be just about impossible. It can be frustrating to sit in these sorts of games when you're a tight player, but it's even worse when you're underfunded. Find a low-level online game and grind out some bankroll before you go attacking the live 4-8.
